More art from Guest Artist Barbara Matchick

If you haven't made it by to see the current show it is still on display until Nov 19, 2012.

The pieces in this exhibit are the collaborative works of resident artist Greg Matchick and his wife Barbara. Using skill and an eye for detail Barbara incorporates Greg’s fine art European scenes into “objets d’art” by means of the centuries old art form of decoupage, thus creating utilitarian works of art from modern-day objects.

GATEWAY GALLERY IN CLAYTON PRESENTS “Art in Architecture”, October 3 – November 19, 2012.

Guest Artist Barbara Matchick creates unique home décor items using photographs of Europe.  The photographs used are original works of art by her husband Greg Matchick.  She feels art should be part of everyday life, not just something that you view in a museum; hence she has created these artful little treasures to enhance your home's decor. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, she has it.  Barb is happy to produce custom orders.

Paul Otto, New Guest Artist at Gateway Gallery October 3 - November 19, 2012

GATEWAY GALLERY IN CLAYTON PRESENTS “Art in Architecture”, October 3 – November 19, 2012.

Guest artist, Paul Otto is a native of Chicago, currently residing in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. He was formally educated in the field of architecture, receiving his bachelor's degree from Kansas State University. He is a registered architect and this architectural background has greatly influenced his photography. He has received acclaim in a number of one man shows and national juried exhibitions.  His style is best described as representational though not necessarily literal, and it is generally characterized by bold composition accompanied by a sense of stillness and serenity. The subject matter is varied, reflecting his interest in nature and architecture.  The prints are silver gelatin prints made from large format film negatives and each is an original which has been individually printed and numbered by the artist. They have been archivally processed, printed on the finest fiberbase photographic papers and matted with acid free 100% rag museum board to insure print longevity.

Phillip Perschbacher, New Guest Artist at Gateway Gallery October 3 - November 19, 2012

GATEWAY GALLERY IN CLAYTON PRESENTS “Art in Architecture”, October 3 – November 19, 2012.

The art of guest artist Philip Perschbacher is focused primarily with the human form. Philip uses materials such as clay, plaster, paint, paper, and various drawing techniques to depict the human body.  Sculpting the human form is a noble endeavor. The knowledge of rhythm, movement, balance, as well as anatomy brings life to a sculpted form.  His inspiration is from nature. He hopes that his sculpture will communicate the beauty of nature in a form that is contemporary for our times.  Philip received a B.F.A. in Drawing and Sculpture from Webster University in 2003. In 2002 he studied at Webster University in Vienna, Austria and has made several trips to Germany and Italy since then. Philip received his M.F.A. in Sculpture from the New York Academy of Art in 2005.  In 2006 Philip was hired as a professor at the age of 24.  He has received numerous commissions both public and private.

Veronese Balcony, Photograph by Greg Matchick

Opening reception held for the artists 6-9 p.m. October 19

(Clayton, MO/July 17) Gateway Gallery “Art in Architecture” exhibit will celebrate architecture, probably one of the oldest venues for art. From frescoes to stone carvings; all of these features have afforded opportunities for artists to exhibit their talents. In modern times, photographers have noted these features and incorporated them into the compositions of their images as well. Artist Greg Matchick has been photographing Europe for more than a decade and he has included many of these architectural features in his images. His "Art in Architecture" exhibit presents a collection of some of his favorite images on the subject.  This show runs October 3 through November 19 with an opening reception from 6 to 9 pm on Friday, October 19 at 21 North Bemiston Ave, Clayton.

Greg Matchick is a self-taught St. Louis based photographer and resident artist at Gateway Gallery. His nature photography has been published nationally and his fine art photography has become part of private collections internationally.
